Sunday July 30th 2006 Has Sharon Stone rekindled romance with old beau?

The ‘Basic Instinct’ star is said to have rekindled her romance with comedian Garry Shandling whom she briefly dated in the early 1990s after appearing on his cult comedy show The Larry Sanders Show. The two remained friends after their split, and now that Stone is free of ex hubby Phil Bronstein, Shandling was wooing the actress with dinner dates and hand holdings.

A source revealed that the actress thinks that her new beau is the “funniest man on the planet” and Garry thinks she's the most beautiful woman. They're keeping the relationship low-key, but Sharon and Garry are loving one another like never before," Femalefirst quoted the source, as saying.

It took just five minutes for a group of star-struck businessmen to pledge $1m (£540,000) to help fight malaria in the Third World, thanks to a little help from the Hollywood actress Sharon Stone. But it is taking them a little longer to deliver on their promises. Nearly 18 months after Ms Stone announced at the World Economic Forum (WEF) that she was giving $10,000 to buy mosquito nets in Tanzania and implored those around her to do the same, most of the pledges have not been paid.

People often assume that because you are a celebrity your life is by definition very glamorous and superficial. I see things that no one has any idea about, but it's a huge part of what drives me."

June 13th 2006 Star-studded Segway supports climate work

The Segway is an electric, zero-emissions device that has an energy efficiency equivalent to 450 miles per gallon and costs pennies per mile to operate but it has failed to catch on as a common mode of transport in U.S. cities, due in part to concerns about the safety of the scooter on city streets.

Segway donated a 'Segway Human Transporter ' for an auction on eBay that's been autographed by former veep Al Gore, as well as Larry David, Cheryl Hines, Rob Reiner, Sharon Stone, Jessica Alba, Daryl Hannah, Amanda Bynes, Ed Begley and Albert Brooks, among other stars. The celebs signed the Segway HT at the Los Angeles premiere of Gore's documentary on global warming,

Segway's goal is to help raise awareness for eco-friendly transportation alternatives and to support Climate Crisis' fundraising auction for the Alliance for Climate Protection, a nonprofit climate effort Gore helped launch.

May 26th 2006 Sharon Stone raises $5m for AIDS

US actress and AIDS campaigner Sharon Stone set a new Cannes record by raising more than $US4 million ($5 million) for research into the disease at a celebrity auction.

About the party: Sharon looked as youthful as ever in her slinky floor-length gown, with the cut-out design showing off her impressively honed body and her choice of colour perfectly complementing her ice-blonde locks. Sharon Stone and Sarah Ferguson were seen chatting at a party at the world famous Eden Roc hotel. But most of Stone's attention was focused on her new man - who is thought to be 30 years her junior. Later, in a similarly revealing dress, Stone entertained partygoers with her singing. Perhaps inspired by her warbling, Robin Williams appeared to sweep Ivana Trump off her feet.

Sharon Stone is such a fan of the TV show Huff (which received seven Emmy nominations last year), she took the writers out to lunch and begged them to create a part for her on the show.
Stone explains, "That show is full of amazing actors. I started watching the show because all of the actors are my favorites - Blythe Danner, Swoosie Kurtz and Hank was in my acting class. I called my agent and said I have to take these writers out to lunch. I took them out to lunch and said, 'Would you write some shows for me because I'm nuts about your show - I'm just crazy about it' and they said 'sure.'"
The star even had a specific storyline in mind with her favorite character from the show. She adds, "Oliver (Platt) is so sexy and funny, I said, 'You have to write a love story for me and Oliver' and they said yes, so I did it!"

We gave it to the label and my song became the title track on this double album with all these important people. It was so exciting. Now I'm trying to keep writing songs".
The actress revealed she has written numerous amounts of tracks, more than enough to put onto an album and would be thrilled to get the chance to become a recording artist. Monday May 29th 2006 Sharon Stone, Auctioneer at Lupus Event

Wearing a skin tight red gown, she pleaded, teased and cajoled the SRO audience into buying luxury items and trips - and even joked that she might accompany them on the trip (if the price was right)!

March 16th 2006 Stone praises co-star for saving her

Sharon Stone paid tribute to her Basic Instinct 2 co-star Stan Collymore for coming to her rescue during a terrifying underwater scene. Stone's Catherine Tramell character romps with retired English soccer ace Collymore's Kevin Franks in a car while driving by London's River Thames, before the vehicle plunges into the water. The blonde actress admits she had a scary moment when her stiletto heel became trapped in the sinking motor, and Collymore rushed to help her. She says, "Working with Stan was extraordinary. He is the loveliest, most chivalrous, most charming and most professional person. And because of that, when this incident happened, I felt really confident. "I've done a lot of stunts in movies and I have never done anything that was as difficult or demanding as that sequence. "It was physically very difficult to be underwater for so long and it's also really daunting to have that drowning effect over and over again, it's psychologically very oppressive. "You can't do that unless you are partnering someone you really trust. We built a really solid bond of trust. There's no one I would have felt safer with than Stan." Despite her trust for Collymore, the former Liverpool FC player hit the headlines in 1998 when he punched his girlfriend Ulrika Jonsson in public.

March 14th 2006 Guest of the Perez Center For Peace

Invited in Israel by the Perez Center For Peace, Sharon Stone celebrated her 48th birthday in Israel, on march 10th, and finished her trip to the Holy Land with a visit to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem on March 13th.

The respectful actress bowed her head in silent prayer at the Jewish landmark and followed a long-held tradition to write another prayer and 'post' it into a crack in the wall.

Friday February 10th 2006 Stone loses custoy of son

Sharon Stone will reportedly lose custody of her five-year-old son for a year under an unusual agreement with ex-husband, Phil Bronstein.

A mediator in the couple's custody case hammered out a new agreement in November 2005, stating that their adopted son, Roan, will spend one year with one parent and then the next year with the other, according to US tabloid the Star. The annual custody switch will continue for the next four years until the agreement is reviewed again.

Stone is shooting five films back-to-back this year (2006) and Bronstein felt the toddler would be better off staying at his home and attending school regularly, rather than travelling to various film sets.

Roan will be living in San Francisco, California, where his father is editor-in-chief of the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. Stone has another son, eight-month old Laird, who she adopted after divorcing Bronstein.

February 09th 2006 "Men are dogs"

Sharon is glad to be single, after enduring countless relationships with "unbalanced" ex-boyfriends.

She has been married and divorced three times (to Phil Bronstein, Michael Greenberg and George Englund JR) and admits she tends to be romantically involved with troubled men and likens the male sex to "dogs".

She says, "All the exes in my life either had an offbeat mother or underwent some kind of childhood crisis. They were unbalanced, looking for parental guidance and they see me as the mother figure. I think all men are dogs. I honestly do. You know every man starts barking sooner or later. At least my character in BASIC INSTINCT has the good sense to kill men afterwards, so they won't go around sprouting nonsense."

February 08th 2006 Mission: peace

Sharon Stone is travelling to Israel in March to promote peace in the troubled region. She has been invited as a guest for the Peres Center for Peace and the 10th annual Women's Festival in Holon.

Stone says, "This is an opportunity for me to learn about the situation from up close." Former Israeli prime minister Shimon Peres enthuses, "She is a good model for how women can contribute to the world."

Friday January 6th 2006 "The only thing better than one child is two"

Sharon Stone follows her motherly instincts: currently setting pulses racing around the world with her risque turn in Basic Instinct 2, however, the only instincts on display were of the maternal variety.

Having just completed a whirlwind tour of Europe - which took in London, Madrid, Paris, Rome and Berlin - the performer is now enjoying some quality time with her new baby boy, Laird. With her trademark blonde tresses tied back in a tight ponytail and a brown coat to keep the chilly temperatures at bay, the 48-year-old was looking rather more casual than the red carpet queen who has dazzled a succession of European capitals in recent days.

Sharon became a mum for the second time when she adopted the youngster in May last year. The new addition to her family came five years after she welcomed her first son, Roan Joseph - also adopted - with then-husband Phil Bronstein. "The only thing better than one child is two," she says. "They make me happy - the best I have ever been."

Friday January 6th 2006 Stone slams America for forgetting AIDS

Sharon has launched a scathing attack on her native America, insisting the nation isn't doing enough to help those suffering from AIDS. Horrified by the lack of support for even US victims of the incurable virus, she condemns her fellow countrymen for dismissing the disease as a solely African problem.

She says, "There is this feeling that AIDS has gone away and it hasn't. In downtown Los Angeles there are two whole streets of homeless people with Aids who have no access to drugs. A child dies of Aids every minute, and they're not all in Africa."
